Unsolved Homicide

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Albert Iavarone.

On September 13, 2018, at approximately 9:55 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Sunflower Crescent in Ancaster. Officers found Albert, 50, in the front entrance suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by Hamilton Paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the suspect entered Sunflower Crescent from the south, parked a vehicle and concealed himself in nearby bushes. When Albert arrived home, the suspect approached and shot him before fleeing in the vehicle. Police believe the attack was targeted.

Following a review of surveillance footage, investigators described the suspect vehicle as a light-coloured SUV or crossover. Its exact colour could not be confirmed because infrared cameras can distort a vehicle’s appearance.

Anyone with information about Albert’s murder, or who saw a vehicle matching this description near Sunflower Crescent and Lavender Drive, is asked to contact Hamilton Police. Investigators are also interested in any dashcam or surveillance footage from the area recorded on September 13, 2018, or during the preceding two weeks. Even the smallest detail could help investigators find answers and bring a measure of closure to Albert’s family.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
