Audrey Gleave

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of 73-year-old Audrey Gleave, a retired Hamilton high school science teacher.

On December 30, 2010, Audrey was found dead in the garage of her home on Indian Trail Road in Lynden. She had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was last known to be alive on December 27, 2010.

Audrey lived alone with her two dogs. There were no signs of forced entry, and investigators did not believe anything had been taken from the home.

A man was initially charged with first-degree murder. The charge was withdrawn in June 2011 following a review of the forensic evidence and a determination that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction. Audrey’s homicide remains unsolved.

Audrey taught at Hill Park, Barton and Westdale secondary schools before retiring in 1997. She maintained friendships with former colleagues, regularly visited the Lynden library and enjoyed spending time with her dogs.

Anyone with information about Audrey’s death or suspicious activity near her property between December 27 and 30, 2010, is asked to contact Hamilton Police at 905-546-3829.

With the passage of time, someone who was previously reluctant to speak may now feel ready to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help investigators find answers and bring a measure of closure to those who knew and loved Audrey.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
