Carman Ward
Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of 60-year-old Carman “Bud” Ward, who was killed during a home invasion in Ancaster.
On December 21, 2015, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police received 911 calls from Carman’s two sons reporting that their father had been shot at their home on Miller Drive.
Two masked men entered the home, confronting one of Carman’s sons in the garage before moving into the kitchen. Carman was shot during a struggle while trying to protect his sons. He was transported to Juravinski Hospital, where he died from his injuries. One of his sons also suffered injuries during the attack.
The suspects were described as men in their 20s at the time, both with slim builds. One was approximately six feet tall and the other approximately five feet six inches. Both wore face coverings, dark long-sleeved tops, dark pants and black gloves.
Surveillance footage also captured an extended-cab pickup truck of interest, believed to be light silver or light grey. Its connection to the homicide has not been confirmed.
Investigators believe the home was targeted and that the suspects were familiar with the residence and its occupants. Police also believe others have information that could help identify those responsible.
