Jeffrey Johnson

Jeff Johnson was a 39-year-old husband and father of two young children when he was fatally shot outside his Hamilton home on December 6, 2019. He was leaving for work as a concrete contractor. Hamilton Police continue to seek answers about why he was killed and who was responsible.

At approximately 6:00 a.m., Jeff left his home on West 4th Street near Richwill Road and approached his vehicle when he was shot. His wife and a neighbour found him on the road. Emergency services responded, and he was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and have identified a vehicle used to watch Jeff in the days leading up to his murder. The same vehicle was seen arriving at and leaving the scene on the morning of the shooting.

The vehicle is described as:

  • Possibly a 2016–2017 Honda Accord Sport, Touring or Touring V6
  • Dark grey with silver door handles
  • Sport rims
  • Four doors
  • Dual exhaust

Investigators have released images and video of the vehicle, which remains unidentified. The number of occupants and their descriptions are unknown.

The motive remains unknown. Jeff was not known to police, and investigators found no evidence linking him to criminal activity.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about Jeff’s murder is urged to contact Hamilton Police. Your information could help bring answers to his family and identify those responsible.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
