Michael Campbell

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Michael Campbell.

On August 8, 2018, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Michael was killed in a shooting on East Avenue, just north of King Street, in central Hamilton. Three other people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Approximately two hours before the shooting, a dispute occurred inside Sheila’s Place Restaurant at 457 King Street East. Investigators believe the shooting may have been connected to that dispute and that Michael may not have been the intended target.

Police previously released an image and video of a man involved in the earlier disturbance and an assault inside the restaurant. Investigators sought to identify him in connection with the assault and to help establish who had contact with Michael and the other victims before the shooting. He was not being sought for Michael’s murder.

Anyone with information about the shooting, the earlier dispute or those involved is asked to contact Hamilton Police. Information or video from that night could help investigators establish what happened and bring answers to Michael’s family.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
