Michael Carey

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Michael Carey, a member of the Red Devils Motorcycle Club.

On May 9, 1984, at approximately 1:45 a.m., shots were fired from the adjacent QEW toward the club’s clubhouse on Arden Avenue in Hamilton’s Beach Strip neighbourhood. Michael was struck by a bullet and died at the scene. Four other club members were inside at the time.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been connected to conflict between rival motorcycle clubs, including an assault on a Satan’s Choice member days earlier. The motive has not been confirmed.

Few people were willing to provide information at the time. Police continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed the shooting or knows who was involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamilton Police. Decades later, information that has never been shared could help establish what happened that night and give Michael’s family the answers they have long awaited.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
