Michael Swistak
Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Michael Swistak.
On April 6, 2012, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a man attended a residence on Madison Avenue in central Hamilton and was refused entry. Michael arrived during a verbal confrontation between the man and another person at the residence. The confrontation escalated to pushing and shoving.
The man left and walked north into the Cathy Wever School yard, followed by Michael and the other man. After warning them to stop following him, the suspect turned, drew a handgun and fired once, striking Michael. The suspect fled through an alley toward Sanford Avenue.
Police and paramedics responded, and Michael was transported to Hamilton General Hospital, where he died from his injury.
Anyone who witnessed the confrontation or shooting, saw the suspect fleeing, or has information about his identity is asked to contact Hamilton Police.
With the passage of time, someone who was previously reluctant to speak with police may now feel ready to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help investigators identify the person responsible and bring answers to Michael’s family.
You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
