Unsolved Homicide

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Nasir Hirji.

On June 25, 1988, Nasir was found murdered inside his apartment. Investigators believe he knew the person responsible and that some of his possessions were stolen after he was killed.

Nasir was a member of the LGBTQ community. At the time of his death, stigma, discrimination and concerns about disclosing sexual orientation may have prevented people from sharing information with police.

Investigators recognize those barriers and hope anyone who felt unable to speak at the time may now feel ready to come forward. Anyone with information about Nasir’s relationships, the people he knew or the circumstances of his death is encouraged to contact Hamilton Police.

Even the smallest detail could help investigators solve Nasir’s murder and bring answers to those who knew and loved him.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
