Patricia Paraszczuk

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of 26-year-old Patricia “Trisha” Paraszczuk, a nurse at Hamilton General Hospital who was also known by her maiden name, Roach.

On the evening of March 3, 1982, neighbours noticed flames coming from Patricia’s home on Montclair Avenue in Hamilton. They attempted to reach her but were forced back by the fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found her body in the basement.

Investigators determined Patricia had been strangled and the scene staged to make her death appear to be a suicide. The house was deliberately set on fire afterward.

Patricia was separated from her husband and preparing to move following the sale of her home. Remembered as a caring nurse, sister and friend, she was looking forward to a new chapter in her life.

Despite an extensive investigation, no charges have been laid. Police believe people may have information they have not shared or details that could help clarify earlier accounts.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Hamilton Police, including those who have spoken with investigators before. It is not too late to tell what you know and help secure the answers Patricia’s loved ones have sought for decades.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
