Philip Van Impe
Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Philip Van Impe, who died from injuries sustained during a robbery.
Shortly after midnight on September 1, 1985, Philip was driving on Leinster Avenue in Hamilton when his car began to stall. He pulled over to investigate. As he was about to get back into the vehicle, a man approached from behind and struck him on the head with an unknown object.
Philip collapsed and handed over his keys and wallet when the attacker demanded them. The man then stole his car.
Initially investigated as a robbery and vehicle theft, the case became a homicide after Philip’s head injury worsened. He was hospitalized and died from the injury on October 6, 1985.
The suspect was described as a white man, approximately six feet one inch tall and 180 pounds, with a medium build and short, straight, dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing and a jacket.
Anyone with information about the attack, the stolen vehicle or the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Hamilton Police.
With the passage of time, someone who was previously reluctant to speak may now feel ready to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help investigators solve Philip’s murder and bring answers to his family.
You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
