Unsolved Homicide

Hamilton Police continue to seek information about the homicide of Sean Drennan, a McMaster University student.

In the early morning hours of January 22, 1997, residents of a building on West Avenue North in central Hamilton heard Sean scream from his third-floor apartment. They then heard footsteps on the rear staircase.

Two neighbours went to check on Sean and found him stabbed to death inside his apartment.

Investigators learned Sean may have been involved in small-scale cannabis sales, but the circumstances surrounding his death and the motive remain unknown.

Anyone who has information about Sean’s death, his activities before the attack or the person heard on the rear staircase is asked to contact Hamilton Police.

With the passage of time, someone who was previously reluctant to speak may now feel ready to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help investigators solve Sean’s murder and bring answers to his family.

You do not need to have witnessed the crime or be certain your information is significant. Something you saw, heard or remember could help investigators find answers for a family still waiting.
